SOPHIE ROBERTSON

PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR

My name is Sophie Robertson and I arrived at Westwood Pres as director five years ago and came via a small preschool in Venice. I have worked in education for 20 years, teaching preschool to high school, working as an administrator of arts programs in public schools with occasional stints in arts marketing and promotion at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York and UCLA. It is a great privilege to be guiding Westwood Pres Preschool as we continue to serve the families on the Westside and honor the mission of the church. I love what I do every day, working with the children, teachers, parents, church staff and the extended community. I passionately believe that every child deserves an excellent preschool experience and make including children of all backgrounds, faiths, cultures and abilities a priority. Having diversity and embracing our differences is what brings us closer as a community and makes the world a better and more interesting place.

Additional Staff

  • Monik

    MOVEMENT EDUCATION SPECIALIST

Monik C. Jones is an artistic director, choreographer, dancer, and teacher. She joined WPC Preschool in 2000, after graduating from UCLA with a BA in World Arts and Culture, concentrating in dance, with a minor in Education. It was at UCLA where she first started studying dance education with Arts Bridge America. She believes that arts (dance especially) played a significant role in developing valuable means of communication with others through self-expression. Monik felt that children of all ages should be exposed to the wonderful world of arts education through qualified teachers, manageable class sizes, available resources, and a safe, non-competitive environment, so she founded Monik’s Creative Movement Education Program. Her work in dance education has provided her the opportunity to be the movement education specialist at WPC Preschool. Her program has taken her all over the world from places like Washington D.C. to Ghana, West Africa.

Office Staff

  • heidi

    office manager

My name is Heidi Rudd and I have found the best job in the world. It was quite a journey to find it. I received my BA in Theater, TV & Film Production and after working at CBS and Sony I became an international travel agent which led to an Operations Manager position at a Meetings & Incentives firm. Although that was fun, I longed for something more. Once I found Early Childhood Education I was hooked. I spent many years at the Goldwyn Children’s Center before coming to WPCP. As the Office Manager here at WPCP for over ten years, I have the best of two worlds: organizing an office and spending time with parents & children. I have a busy household with five cats, one dog, two children and one husband. Brennen is in 12th grade and Gwendolyn is in 9th at LACES and my husband works at USC near where I live.

  • priscilla

    office assistant

This is my fourth year here at WPCP. I have an Associate’s of Science in Early Childhood Education and am currently attending Pacific Oaks College to complete my B.A in Early Childhood Education. I have wanted to be a teacher and work with children for as long as I can remember. Along with working in the office, I also get to work in the classrooms with all the wonderful children.  My husband and I had our first child, Teddy, this past January and are loving every minute of this new journey into parenthood. When I’m not working I’m soaking up as much time with my husband and Teddy. I also play/coach volleyball which is another passion of mine– I’m currently coaching at Wildwood High School. I couldn’t be happier to have joined the family here at WPCP.
